Josh Harris, a professional fisherman featured in ‘Deadliest Catch,’ is the eldest son of the late captain, Phil Harris.
He is currently running the wheelhouse of F/V Cornelia Marie, which was formerly owned and operated by his father till 2010.
The season 14 of the show will show two captains in Cornelia Marie, much like Hillstrand brothers, who rotated seasons in F/V Time Bandit.
Captain Casey McManus will be running the wheelhouse during the king crab season and Captain Josh during the Opie crab season.
Though the boat remained an active part of the Bering Sea crab fleet last year, it wasn’t seen on TV.
Josh explained that there was some real-life drama in the Harris family that kept their F/V off of the show during the season 13.
Born on March 18, 1983, to a fisherman, Josh became familiar with sea at a young age.
He has a younger brother, Jake Harris, with whom he co-authored a book, Captain Phil Harris: The Legendary Crab Fisherman, Our Hero, Our Dad.
Starting fishing crab in the Bering Sea from an early age, Josh appeared as the deckhand in the first six seasons of the show.
He revealed in an interview on April 25, 2013, that he had taken the ownership of Cornelia Marie.
After owning the boat, he put $1 million to give it an overhaul that included all renovations and electronics.
As of early 2018, he owns an estimated net worth of $800 thousand, which is more likely to see an upward slope after the upcoming season.
Fans are hopeful that Captain Josh will bring the boat to its former glory like that of his father’s time.
Stay glued to your seat! The all-new season of the show is set to premiere on April 10, 2018.
