The former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, had to undergo an emergency brain hemorrhage surgery after falling ill on May 5, 2018. Manchester United issued a statement on Wednesday saying the 76-year old is no longer in intensive care and will continue rehabilitation as an inpatient.

What happened to Alex Ferguson?

Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to Macclesfield Hospital on May 5 before being transferred to Salford Royal after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was last seen publicly at Old Trafford on April 29, when he presented Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, a commemorative trophy.

On May 9, Manchester United announced “Sir Alex no longer needs intensive care and will continue rehabilitation as an inpatient. ” The statement further added “His family have been overwhelmed by the level of support and good wishes but continue to request privacy as this will be vital during this next stage of recovery.”

Darren, on behalf of the Ferguson family, thanked everybody who sent them warm wishes and support in such a difficult time. Darren said in a statement “It has been overwhelming to read how many people care and that they are thinking of my dad and willing his recovery.”
