Ryen Russillo reveals why he left ESPN

Russillo reveals that he will be moving on from ESPN because he’s not satisfied with his current work life. He said that he was offered an extension after the company wide layoff in April but his salary remained the same.

He told fans that he was reluctant to work 10 hours a day for the same amount of money. He also said that his life had no balance because of his work commitments.

“I don’t have a lot of a life now. I don’t really have any balance. I’d be lying if I told you I was super happy lately. I know people who know me really well here, I don’t think they’re entirely surprised by this. So it would have to be something where I also felt like I was growing creatively outside of ESPN Radio — some other entities … I don’t know if that was going to happen,” said the host.

In April 2017, he had assured fans that he wasn’t going anywhere after his co-host was let go from the network due to budget cuts.

Where is Ryen Russillo going? New job?

Russillo is excited for what’s coming next. Now that he is a free agent, the possibilities are endless. For the time being, he will still be a part of ESPN on a podcast as his contract demands that he hosts until summer 2018.

“A lot of time when your run is over or your job is over, it’s a weird thing, people get mad at each other. That is not the case right now. I’m having moments, I’ll admit, where I’m in the car being like ‘Are you seriously going to do this. And every moment of fear is trumped by a moment of excitement about what I’m going to do next,” he continued.
