Pauley Perrette’s character, Abby Sciuto, ruled NCIS before she made her final appearance on the 15th season finale.

Though she announced that she would be quitting the show last fall, the reason why she decided to walk away remained a mystery.

However, a week after her emotional exit, she has finally broken her silence on Twitter, claiming that she endured multiple physical assaults.

She confessed that there was a very “powerful publicity machine” that kept her silent, still keeping the identity of her abuser a secret.

She has also stated that she was raising voice for herself in anti-bullying programs throughout the show’s run.

The reason why she didn’t spill the beans earlier was her concern to the future of her colleagues and the show.

The publicity machine with no obligation to truth left her with a choice to protect her crew regardless of the false stories surfacing about herself.

Pauley’s childhood obsession with crime stories helped her portray the character genuinely.

While growing up, her obsession with those things stemmed from Atlanta child murders and Jonestown Massacre.

In her own life, Perrette works very closely with LAPD and has worked with several cases with John Walsh from America’s Most Wanted.

Following her goodbye episode, the actress thanked her fans for supporting her through a video posted on NCIS Twitter page.

But, she is yet to talk about what she is doing next. Good luck Pauley for your future endeavors.
