Leland Blaine Chapman is an American bail bondsman and bounty hunter best known as the star of Dog the Bounty Hunter.
He was born to the famous bondsman, Duane Chapman, and his first wife, La Fonda Sue Darnall, on December 14, 1976.
When he was a toddler, his father was sent to prison, and during that time, his parents divorced.
He was raised by his mother in Pampa, Texas, and later moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado.
After he ran away from home and joined a gang, his mother put him in foster care before putting him in a boys care home.
When given a choice to go back to foster care or live with his father, he chose the latter.
At the age of seventeen, he started training in boxing and mixed martial arts, but gave up in 2003 after a knee injury.
He started working with his father at the family company, Da Kine Bail Bonds, along with Beth Chapman, Duane Lee Chapman and Lyssa Chapman.
He became famous in 2003 after he, his father and a colleague, Tim Chapman, arrested the fugitive, Andrew Luster.
He started appearing on the show, Dog the Bounty Hunter, in 2004 and left a few months prior to the show’s end in 2012
After leaving the show, he has been concentrating on his own bail bond company, Kama’aina Bail Bonds, in Hawaii.
He also runs his father’s company, Da Kine Bail Bonds, in Oahu and another the company, Bounty Hunter Tactical Supply Co.
