Jason Momoa played Ronon Dex in the Canadian-American military series, Stargate Atlantis. And we still remember the iconic character.

His next break out role came as Khal Drogo in the HBO fantasy television series, Game of Thrones.

Currently, he is portraying the role of Aquaman in DC franchise. He appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 and Justice League in 2017.

He is set to reprise his role in 2018 movie, Aquaman. He is also working on the Netflix series, Frontier.

Practices Buddhism

As a young boy, Momoa spent some time traveling the world. During his trip to Tibet, he discovered the Buddhist teachings. 

He recalls the outing as the best thing ever happened to him. He has been learning and practicing the Buddhist philosophies ever since. 

Wanted to become a marine biologist

After graduating from high school, Momoa studied marine biology for a while before being discovered by a fashion designer, Takeo Kikuchi.

This became a pathway for his modeling career in Hawaii, which soon led him into the acting.

Hawaii’s Model of the Year

The handsome actor was crowned as “Hawaii’s Model of the Year” in 1999. He, later on, went to star in the American series, Baywatch Hawaii.

Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa

Hawaiian names are often quite long. But not that long, Momoa wanted on his baby boy.

On December 15, 2008, his wife, Lisa Bonet, gave birth to a son. They later named him Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.

Facial Scar

Ever wondered if the scar above his left eye is a result of an accident?

In 2008, Momoa reportedly got hit on the face with a broken beer glass at the Bird Cafe. It required 140 stitches to fix, and was left with the scar.
