Hugh Rowland aka The Polar Bear is well-known for appearing in the History Channel’s reality series, Ice Road Truckers. He is one of the leading drivers in the show. He was born in Kelowna, British Columbia in 1957. As a successful reality star he has garnered a net worth of $2 million.

Hugh Rowland also known as Polar Bear in the show has been the prominent cast member, since its inception in 2007. He appeared regularly on the show from season 1. No precise event earned him his nickname “Polar Bear,” rather his friend thought he fit the description and it has been with him ever since.

Unfortunately, he met with an accident in 2014, suffering multiple injuries. He claimed to have faced some permanent injuries and couldn’t go back to his trucking company. On the one hand, Hugh was fighting with his physical injury, and on the other hand, his wife was also struggling emotionally. His physical disability left her deprived of love, companionship, and the sexual relationship.

Claiming to be in a passenger seat, he filed a lawsuit saying the producer, Will Morrison drove the truck carelessly and crashed. Despite the popularity and ratings, he brought to the show, the network fired him and separate the way at the end of the season 8.

Besides his appearance on the show Ice Road Truckers, he is also a proud owner of a successful construction company in British Columbia. Hugh has also tried his hands in writing, and has published an autobiography, On Thin Ice: Breakdowns, Whiteouts, and Survival on the World’s Deadliest Roads in 2010.
