Daisy Ridley is an English actress and singer who became an overnight sensation after being cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Before this role, she acted in minor television shows and short films such as Youngsters, Mr Selfridge, and Blue Season.
She played the role of Jo in the interactive film Lifesaver which was nominated for a BAFTA Award.
She also played the character of Kim, in King of Grime, Wiley’s Lights On.
The 2015 British horror movie, Scrawl, became her debut movie as her scenes in 2014 comedy, The Inbetweeners 2, were deleted.
Her casting in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was announced in April, 2014, while she was chosen for the movie in February, 2014.
Rolling Stones, a biweekly magazine called her a ‘total unknown,’ because she was practically unknown in Hollywood.
Director J.J. Abrams’ choice was a repeat of George Lucas’s ploy to cast relatively unknown actors for the lead role in the first ‘Star Wars’ movie.
On her audition for her role for ‘Star Wars,’ she enacted a torture scenario and stunned the critics.
She reprised her role of Rey in 2017 movie, Star Wars: The last Jedi.
She also voiced the animated version of Rey in the web series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, produced by Lucasfilm Animation.
Following her role in Star Wars, she landed more roles in movies which include ‘Murder on the Orient Express,’ ‘Ophelia’ and ‘Chaos Walking.’
According to Metro, a free tabloid newspaper revealed Daisy’s net worth to be approximately $1.5 Million, and it is expected to grow since the release of ‘The Last Jedi.’
