At the age of 19, Yulia Lipnitskaya retired from figure skating after suffering with anorexia

15-year-old Yulia Lipnitskaya holds the Russian flag with the gold medal on her neck in the 2014 Olympics.

Yulia Lipnitskaya retired from the professional figure skating at the age of 19. She was considered as the brightest prospect in figure skating in Russia. Her mother announced her retirement to the Russian News Agency on August 28, 2017. Yulia decided to quit her career as a figure skater because she was suffering from eating disorder named anorexia.
