The eighth season of the CBS police procedural drama series, Blue Bloods, concluded on May 11, 2018. And we are delighted that CBS is renewing the show for the ninth season

However, stretching back to the opener of the season in September 2017, fans were unhappy following the unexpected departure of their beloved character Linda Reagan.

So what happened to her?

Before we dive in, take a time to subscribe to our channel and hit the bell icon to get more updates.

We were informed that the character died in a helicopter crash while airlifting her patient through her husband, Danny’s therapy session with his doctor. And we strongly believe that for a character that’s been around since the pilot of the series, she deserved a proper onscreen closure.

Even Amy Carlson, the actress who played Linda, was surprised by how her departure was handled. Although it was her own decision to quit the show, she stated that she wasn’t satisfied with how the storyline of her character was wrapped up.

“I feel badly that she dies the way she dies. I did not know they would do that, I was surprised. I wouldn’t have done that. . . I could’ve shown the death. I guess it would’ve been nice for the fans to see her demise, to be a participant in it, and that was my vote for the fans,” Carlson said in an interview.

She further stated that she wasn’t even invited to the season premiere to give the character a proper send-off.

Will she return?

Carlson, however, says she is “open” to return on the show to give fans the wrap-up they desire. So basically, that means there is still a possibility of her returning through a dream sequence or a flashback later in the series to give us an insight into the character’s demise.

Fans’ reactions

She also stated that she was greatly humbled by the support fans have shown to her. “I can’t even tell you how many messages a day I get about her and the character. They’re so sweet, they all wish me well in my future projects, they’re all just super supportive fans of mine, and it’s just so lovely” she told Deadline, talking about her fan’s reaction to her character’s departure.

Donnie’s Reaction

Meanwhile, her onscreen husband, Donnie Wahlberg, was equally unhappy as the fans were. He even tweeted that Carlson is “a gift, a light, and a true friend on and off-screen.” Carlson also had nothing but good things to say about Donnie. She stated that she would miss him the most and he has been “generous and sweet” since her departure.

As of now, it’s confirmed that we’ll soon be seeing Carlson on Jason Wiles’ independent drama, Sunny Daze.

What do you think will Amy show up in the show again? Let us know in the comments and don’t forget to drop a like and subscribe to our channel for more great contents.
