Tim Smith is an American moonshiner and reality TV personality, who is known for his appearance on Discovery’s docudrama, Moonshiners

Originally from Climax, Southwestern Virginia, he is a third-generation moonshiner.

Tim is the Chief of the Climax Volunteer Fire Department and collects fund for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Moonshiners, the show, has been following a group of moonshiners in and around the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia since 2011.

The show documents the complex and stressful process of finding a location, building a still and brewing moonshine.

Being one of the original cast members of the show, Tim has frequently been asked by followers why the moonshiners aren’t arrested.

The show has constantly gained criticism as people believe that moonshining is illegal.

But, Tim has justified viewers’ queries stating that professional moonshiners take a lot of precautions and no illegal liquor is being produced.

He has his own legal distillery, Climax Moonshine, in Kentucky.

Now, the brand is available in multiple states including Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia and West Virginia.

He updates followers about his upcoming events through the website, climaxmoonshine.com.

As of 2018, the professional moonshiner has collected a net worth of approximately $150 thousand.

Since 1986, he has been married to Shelby, who is a school nutritionist and active community worker.

His son, JT, is a volunteer firefighter and enjoys fishing, hunting and riding four-wheeler in free time.
