In the second edition of BookCon which took place at the Javits Center in New York City on May 30 and 31, Mindy Kaling and B. J. Novak discussed her then freshly released book, Why Not Me?. The book made its way to the first place in the list of New York Times Best Seller. During the discussion, Kaling and Novak announced that they would be coming together to work on a new book. The two had previously worked together while writing and performing for The Office. They were also in a relationship from 2005 to 2007.
