Playing with the dangerous creature is never safe, but his daring and fearless nature has been compared with a crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin. In the 1980s, while producing the BBC film The Serpent’s Embrace, a spritted cobra spattered its venom into his eyes. Though the poison did not enter his blood, he was admitted to hospital for three days.
The same case repeated while he was making a short film regarding black-necked spitting cobras in 2008. He had worn a mask, but the toxin landed in his hair. Unfortunately, it got mixed with sweat and then ran into his eyes, due to which he had to stop filming until next morning.
Well, that was not the end! Later, in 2012, he got injured by a non-venomous Central American tree boa that bit him on his nose. Following year, the same incident occurred in the show, Ten Deadliest Snakes: China with king ratsnake. In 2014, while filming the first episode of the show Eating Wild, he was bitten by a venomous green pit viper on his thumb in East Malaysian State Sabah, and was hastened to the hospital.
