The Simpsons
Though Springfield opened its borders for us in 1989, we still have this on our list because The Simpsons truly soared the sitcom sky during the 90s. From a careless father to a baby who has been sucking on a pacifier since 1987, this dysfunctional family left a mark on every child born in the 90s.
Everybody Loves Raymond
The name might throw you off, but not everyone loves the indecisive Raymond Barone, a married man and father of three. Just Kidding. Though Raymond may have a bittersweet relationship with his family, across the street, he is a true mama’s boy at heart. His inability to take a stand before his mother is even more hilarious. Though Raymond is mostly arguing with his brother, Robert, and wife, Debra, this overbearing family couldn’t love each other more than anyone else.
Boy Meets World
Cory Matthews life had never been interesting until his best friend, Shawn Hunter came along. This show follows the adventures and goofs of Cory and Shawn as they try to be more popular with their classmates. But Cory takes a swift turn when he starts liking a smart outsider in his class, Topanga and eventually asks her out. Thanks to its appealing storyline and hilarious one-liners, this coming-to-age sitcom has indeed etched its name among the top TV shows in the history.
Roseanne
Highly praised for its realistic portrayal of a blue-collar American family, Roseanne was one of the most watched television shows in the United States from 1989 to 1990. The show revolves around an American working-class family struggling with life’s essential problems; marriage, children, money and parents-in-law. Known for its famous one-liners, the show also emphasized on some of the greyer areas in today’s society.
Home Improvement
Born out of Tim’s stand-up comedy routine, Home Improvement, was one of the highest-rated sitcoms for almost the entire decade it aired. The show centers on the Taylor family, which consists of Tim, his wife Jill and their three children, Brad, Randy and Mark. Tim Taylor’s fascination with hardware stores, hotrods and power tools, and his penchant for rewiring, klutzy mishaps and bad judgment served as the framework for most of its comedy.
Frasier
This show starts off as a spin-off of the show Cheers, where humorous Psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane, “played by Kelsey Grammer,” returns to his hometown following the end of his marriage and life in Boston. By molding workingman comedy with pompous humor, this highly acclaimed sitcom boasts a record of thirty-seven Emmy Awards won by the cast and the show itself.
That 70s Show

Though the friends spend their time in Eric’s basement, talking about their lives, parents and futures, they manage to get into many funny mishaps and adventures which makes the show worth your while.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
When a streetwise teenager, Will, causes a confrontation with a group of people, his mother cuts him a one-way ticket to live with his aunt and uncle in the opulent neighborhood of Bel Air, Los Angeles. Will’s working-class background often clash in various humorous ways with the upper-class world of the Banks family. Known for its catchy theme song and hilarious dance moves, this show is what turned Will Smith into the star we know today.
Seinfeld
Even without a unifying plot, this show went on to be considered one of the greatest and most influential sitcoms ever made. Focusing on the daily lives of a group of friends, the show really caught eyes of the audience thanks to its characters on-screen chemistry and observational humor.
Friends
Being the gold standard for sitcoms these days, Friends is by far one of the greatest TV series to ever air in television history. The show follows the daily lives of 6 single friends in their mid-20s as they try their best to find success and happiness in life. From the beautiful, Rachel, to cigarette addict, Chandler, the characters’ chemistry is really what brought the show to its glory.
