The “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin (born March 25, 1942) is a legendary soul singer and songwriter.

Lately, she has been a constant subject of rumors.

Back in November 2017, rumors of her death started on Twitter, and the hashtag #RipArethaFranklin became trending.

The false report was started by a fake account of her name which posted a farewell message to the singer.

She later cleared the rumors stating that she is alive and well.

Her weight loss and the absence from social media made the fake news so believable.

She revealed that the weight loss was the result of her medication.

This was not the first time ill rumors about her spread on the social media.

In 2011, it was rumored that she was suffering from pancreatic cancer. But, she denied the rumors.

Earlier in 2017, she had announced her retirement. She said, “I am retiring this year…I will be recording, but this will be my last year in concert. This is it.”

The multiple Grammy-winning singer is now planning to spend more time with her grandchildren and family.
