Sukanya Krishnan is an Indian American news anchor presently working for Fox 5. Krishnan began working at Fox News on August 20, 2017 and currently works alongside Jennifer Lahmers in the 4:30 am to 7:00 am slot. 

Sukanya Krishnan is the first Indian American female anchor to work in the New York station of a local network affiliate.

Sukanya Krishnan’s career journey

Previously, Sukanya worked as an anchor at WPIX channel 11. She hosted the morning news alongside fellow anchor Kori Chambers. On May 3, 2017, Krishnan revealed on air that her time at WPIX was coming to an end after 17 long years. She left the channel at the end of the month.

Born in Chennai, India, Krishnan was raised by her Indian parents on Staten Island. She went to New Dorp High School and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College. 

Four years after her graduation, she began working at WCBS-TV as a general assignment reporter. Previously, she made herself familiar with the New York news market at ABC affiliate WUTR-TV and WLIG-TV. 

In her early career, she covered several important news such as Bill Clinton’s impeachment, then-Mayor Rudolp Giuliani’s Time Square cleanup, the Mark McGwire-Sammy Sosa race and the Abner Louima beating.

Krishnan has received six Emmy Awards for her longtime contribution as a WPIX anchor.

In addition to this, she received the Project Impact’s Creating A Voice award and was honored with a Distinguished Broadcast Journalist commendation for her reporting on the aftermath of September 11 attacks in 2001.

Rumor has it that Krishnan left her job at WPIX because of salary disputes. Her current Fox salary and net worth has not been revealed.
