Beach, New York, U.S. His birth name is Michael Patrick Francesa, Jr. At the age of eight, his mother abandoned the
family. He has two brothers, John and Marty.

He started his career as a researcher at CBS Sports
in 1982 and he was promoted to studio analyst for college football and
basketball. He was offered to join ESPN but he declined the proposal. He joined
WFAN in 1987 and the show Mike and the Mad Dog debuted.

He was paired with
Chris Russo and they are the first sports talk host to receive the 2000 Macroni
Award for Major Market Personality of the Year. Mike also hosts The NFL Now and
appeared on the YES Network from 2008 to 2014. He also hosts on the CBS Radio
Network and Westwood One.

On September 2008, Mike announced he is planning to host a new program Mike’d up on WFAN.  On 30 March, 2016, he hosted the show Mike and the Mad Dog reunion with Russo.  Mike’s last day was on December 15, 2017 in WFAN.
