Jamie Lee Curtis found herself deep in addiction in the late 80s. She became dependent on painkillers after a routine cosmetic procedure.

“I too became addicted, the morphine becomes the warm bath from which to escape painful reality,” said Curtis in her Huffington Post blog in 2016.

She told The Daily Beast, “My whole life my parents had dependence on alcohol. This is a family disease. I lost a brother at 20 from heroin. It will be the greatest achievement of my life if I can stay sober until I die.”

The Scream Queens star, who came clean about her addiction publicly in 2009, has been sober for 18 years now.

“My recovery from drug addiction is the single greatest accomplishment of my life... but it takes work — hard, painful work — but the help is there, in every town and career, drug/drink freed members of society, from every single walk and talk of life to help and guide.”
