Alex drew inspirations watching his dad, Kenny Laughlin’s tractor pull with a Hemi-powered Super Modified Two Wheel Drive.
He began his racing career at a tender age of nine when he took on the steering of his first go-kart.
By 15, he had developed a strong passion for motorsports and fast cars and soon moved to Legend Cars.
Although he was competing in various types of racing, drag racing, in particular, fascinated him the most.
And before he knew it, he was racing close to the speed of 200 mph before he even had his state-issued driver’s license.
Laughlin made his Pro Stock debut at Sonoma in 2015, where he qualified for all seven events the team participated in at Dallas.
His breakthrough NHRA Pro Stock performance was in 2016 at St. Louis, where he won his first national event.
He also won The Wally trophy and took away the top prize at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in June 2017.
In 2018, he participated in K&N Horsepower Challenge, National Championship and All-Stars Championship.
The 29-year old occasionally shares the photo of his wife, Sierra, on social media who is a nurse.
Laughlin is currently the driver of Gas Monkey Energy Pro Stock Camaro in the NHRA Drag Racing.
He is also associated with popular sponsors such as Havoline colors, Tige Boats and Speedy Society.
According to him, various sponsors have backed him to cement his popularity as a racer.
