Fredrik Eklund is going to be a dad! On the season finale of Million Dollar Listing New York, Fredrik and husband Derek Kaplan revealed that they have twins on the way.

“It’s the biggest thing that could ever happen to us. It’s a boy or a girl, and it’s just beyond” Eklund tells People excitingly.
The pair took to Instagram to share the heartfelt story alongside a celebratory picture of them kissing in front of the Eiffel Tower.
The couple learned the good news in back in April when they were celebrating Eklund’s 40th birthday in Paris. But they didn’t make it public as they were not sure if they could be successful this time after several failed attempts.
Fredrik and Derek’s surrogate faced two miscarriages
Fredrik and Eklund married in 2013 and were expecting with a surrogate in 2015. But unfortunately, their surrogate faced miscarriage when they were hopeful with twins. Fredrik’s emotions on failed pregnancy were best expressed in a lengthy Instagram post.
The heartbreaking situation repeated once again in 2016 but they didn’t choose to make it so public like the previous one.
After their surrogate suffered multiple miscarriages, the couple began feeling discouraged about the IVF process. He said, ‘It felt like every time I went onto Facebook or Instagram, all that I could see were these smiling babies on my feed. I was reminded constantly that there was this gap between me and where I wanted to be.”
Though the Swedish real estate agent broker says he did regret sharing so much about their struggle to start a family on the show, many people who shared their experience motived him to be hopeful.
Eklund also attributes his ability to persist through the struggles to his husband, whom he compares to himself as ‘much more calm’. As the couple has been desperate to fill their Connecticut mansion with kids, they say, ‘Fatherhood has been our biggest priority.’
Kaplan is already a father to a 7-year-old boy, Kai, as he donated his sperm to a couple he met in London eight years ago. The couple often visits London to meet Kai.
