After feeling a small knot in her throat, she went to the doctor. Over a week later, he confirmed that it was cancer and Brimberry would need surgery. She had to get her thyroid, lymph nodes, and a part of her trachea removed because cancer had spread.

As a result, she spent six months with no voice. In her post, Brimberry continued, “Despite everything, I feel lucky, and I feel blessed to have so many supportive people around me helping me and my family get through this.”

She updated her fans time and again about her recovery on Facebook. “ The last week has been one of the hardest so far, having to take radioactive treatment for my cancer and being isolated from my family for the week. However, it gave me a lot of time to reflect, which is something I don’t have time to do most of the time between kids, husband, work and life,” wrote Christie on December 25 that year.
