Ever since Henry Ford embedded cars into the American dream, men have been leading the automobile industry everywhere from production to maintenance. Not anymore. The all female cast of All Girls Garage, Sarah Bogi Lateiner, Cristy Lee and Rachel De Barros are here to prove people that women are also willing to get their hands dirty to fix simple things like flat tyres and oil change to rebuilding fenders, engines, transmission, drivetrain and well, everything.
While fans know what goes on in the garage while the cameras are rolling, there are a lot going on when the cameras stop rolling. Here are some behind the scene facts about All Girls Garage you did not know about.
Bogi is a Hoarder
We have heard many of our favorite car show hosts reminiscing about many exquisite cars that has been in and out of their garage. Sarah Bogi is not one of those people. In fact, she is a car hoarder, and still has her first car, a ‘74 Volkswagen Bug.
She has only sold two cars in her life, a Volkswagen Golf and a Nissan. However, she is not the one without any regrets. The Golf which had more than 130,000 miles still gives her a seller’s remorse.
More Makeup Than You Think
Ever wondered why the girls look gorgeous even though they work with cars all the time? That is because, a makeup person is always close by whenever the camera starts rolling. Well, that is the show business part and doesn’t mean that the girls are always concerned about their looks. With no fourth person to assist, they have to get their hands dirty and knees scraped whenever working on the dirtier side of the things.
Cristy’s love for machines came from her father, who owned a garage at the Daytona Beach, where she would spend most of her weekends as a teenager. She got her first bike at the age of 18 and soon started practicing and racing at the track. She is still an amateur racer and also occasionally interviews professionals. When she is not busy working with fixing cars and bikes, she loves dirt biking, mountain biking, snowboarding and rock climbing.
Outside the Garage
Beside the life in garage, the girls have their own respective businesses. Cristy is a TV host and reporter who has hosted events like Barrett Jackson auto auctions, AMA race events and Red Bull X Games. Rachel, on the other hand, is more on the business side of things. An entrepreneur since school, she now owns a boutique design and interactive marketing company. Bogi is also a businesswoman who has opened up another venture, Bogi’s Garage, which has a coffee shop and a play area for the children, making the waiting game for the customers a little less boring.
Bogi Studied Pre-Law
Bogi majored in women’s studies and pre-law with politics as a minor. However, when making her life decisions, she chose cars and later attended Universal Technical Institute to be a mechanic. Now, she teaches mechanics to women across the country and gives them tips to repair their own vehicles.
