1.Personal Tragedies
Susan Boyle is a global star now, but she had her share of low points before getting standing ovations from all the judges and cheering from the crowd. From losing her father in 1999 to sister Kathleen’s death in 2000 and elder sister Birdie’s death from cancer in 2015, she had struggled from some series losses. She couldn’t get over the grief especially after losing her mother in 2007. After her groundbreaking audition, she shared,
“I was also in danger of losing our family home because I wasn’t working…. I truly believe that she was the angel on my shoulder that day.”
2. Sibling Feud
Boyle had a very public meltdown at Heathrow airport in 2016, when she left her brother, Gerry a distressing voicemail. At that time, she spoke of her joy after ending a 2-year-long feud with her brother. She said,
“I’m very happy, it’s a great relief and I’m looking to the future with a happy smile. Everything is hunky dory and fantastic.”
Their feud reportedly began in December 2013 when her family members claimed that Gerry asked Susan £50,000 threatening her to commit suicide. Later, Gerry also stated,
“I’d never heard her sound so down on the phone. I was really concerned. She didn’t sound like she was in a good place. We hadn’t spoken for two and a half years but when all is said and done I am her brother. I realized how sad it was that we didn’t speak and that it shouldn’t be that way.”
The distress was ignited by some relatives, who just intended to tear the close-knitted Boyle family. Now, that everything is fine, they are happier than ever.

3. First Love at the 50s
It’s never too late for love, right? At the time, she said in an interview,
“I don’t want to say any more about who he is right now as that would be unfair on him. All I’ll say is we are around the same age and he was a very nice guy. It’s very early days so we’ll see what happens. I hope he comes over. People with Asperger’s do put a barrier up because they don’t know how to trust people. I try not to. I want to let people in.”
