On September 9, 2017, Eric lost his 19-year-old son. He has now opened up about the cause of the death of his teenage son in White House video.
The coroner in Colorado, at the time of his son’s death, found a mixture of marijuana, cocaine, Xanax, and two opioids – fentanyl & cyclopropyl fentanyl. Also, the toxicology reports confirmed the death was due to accidental overdose.
For the ongoing Trump administration’s efforts to tackle the opioid crisis that takes lives of many teens each year, Eric has recorded a public service announcement. He shared that his son who was a very “social high schooler” and was getting ready for the sophomore year.
He received a call while returning from a dinner with his wife. After the couple was informed about their son’s death, Eric’s wife fell into the road and he had to gather her up.

Later, being disheartened, he said, “We never saw it coming. We never thought we would get that call. Every parent doesn’t want it. We got it.”
He divulged that since sharing about Eric Chase’s death in public, he has been “overwhelmed” by the number of people who have also dealt with the lose their loved ones due to addiction.
