In August 2017, he received probation instead of a 10-year prison sentence for his involvement in a drive-by shooting, expressing regret and a commitment to his family.

Also on February 24, 2018, YoungBoy was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida, accused of assault, kidnapping, and a weapons violation related to an altercation with his girlfriend, Jania Jackson. Hotel surveillance footage allegedly showed the dispute, with the rapper throwing her to the ground. Despite the video evidence, she publicly denied the charges against him.

YoungBoy also found himself in hot water when a leaked interview showed him talking about Nipsey Hussle’s death. Some people were upset because they thought his comments were controversial.
