Charlie Hunnam is best known for ruling the small screen world, needless to mention his work in ‘Sons of Anarchy.’
However, his big screen roles have been as diverse in character and style as they have been in critical reception.
He played the titular role in Guy Ritchie’s ‘King Arthur’ (2017) and fought hurricane and ghosts alike in ‘Pacific Rim’ and ‘Crimson Peak.’
Not only that, but he also ventured into the jungles of the early 20th century in ‘The Lost City of Z,’ a 2016 adventure drama film.
His movie, Papillon, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival on Sept 9, 2017, and is due to release in theaters on Aug 24, 2018.
The movie is based on the best-selling autobiography of late Henri Charrière‘s experiences in the French prison.
Hunnam’s role in the remake of the 1973 hit of the same name is assumed to be his most dramatic and challenging role to date.
The actor was born on April 10, 1980, in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, England to William “Billy” Hunnam and Jane Hunnam.
He graduated with a major degree in Theory and Historical Film and minor in Performing Arts from Cumbria College of Art and Design.
His career began with his appearance in a children’s show, Byker Grove, which was followed by a brief modeling career.
His first major role came in Channel 4 drama, Queer as Folk, and continued with movies, Abandon, Cold Mountain and Nicholas Nickleby.
After several minor roles, his career breakthrough came in ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ where he played as Jackson “Jax” Teller from 2008 to 2014.
In 1999, he married an actress, Katharine Towne, shortly after they met while auditioned for roles on ‘Dawson’s Creek’ but divorced in 2002.
Hunnam has been dating jewelry designer, Morgana McNelis since 2005. They don’t seem in a hurry to tie the knot anytime soon.
Throughout his career, he has amassed a huge net worth of $16 million.
