Proud Gay Sam Champion is married to his longtime boyfriend Rubem Robierb

55 years old Sam Champion is a proud gay and a married man. Together for more than 4 years with his boyfriend turned husband Rubem Robierb, Brazilian Virtual Artist, their wedding ceremony was held at Champion’s Manhattan apartment on December 21st, 2012. The wedding ceremony was attended by the couple’s family and close friends including media personalities Lara Spencer, Josh Elliot and Robin Roberts. 

The duos met on a New Year’s Eve, proposed on a New Year’s Eve and in order to complete the sequence the couple remarried on New Year’s Eve in 2012. Speaking about beginning a new chapter in their lives the weatherman said: “I’m looking forward to spending every day of the rest of my life with a guy who just makes me a better person to be around him”. The couple travelled to the beach of Rio De Janerio to enjoy their honeymoon. 

Back in 2013, shortly after their marriage, it was rumoured that Champion left Good Morning America in order to plan about extending his family with husband Robierb. In an interview, Champion stated that he would like to spend time with Robierb in Miami so that their kids would know his face. Further speaking he said that he does not want their kids to know him by only looking at the television screen. The couples are yet to openly speak about their plans of having kids. Both of them currently seems focused on their respective career. 

 In addition to being an example couple, the twosome is also an active supporter of GLAAD and other LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trisexual) organisations. For his support Champion was honoured by Human Right Campaign (HRC) on 14th March 2014 at the 27th Annual Atlanta HRC Gala Dinner and Auction.  

Back in 2010 when Sam Champion was with GMA, he had his Basal Cell Carcinoma removed from his shoulder’s in live television. 

His operation was held at Juva Skin and Laser Centre in Manhattan and was operated by dermatologist Dr Michele Pauporte. On the aftermath of the operation, the media personality said he did his operation on live television in order to raise awareness about the disease. His left shoulder was infected with the skin cancer cells.
