George Herbert Walker Bush, former President of the United States of America passed away at the age of 94 on Friday, November 30, in Houston. The Bush family spokesperson, Jim McGrath, revealed that the 41st President took his last breath shortly after 10 p.m. The firstborn son of George H.W Bush and 43rd President, George W. Bush announced the passing of his father.

Bush was regarded as one of the best and most experienced politicians in the history of the United States. He was being treated for low blood pressure at a nearby hospital several days before his death. He served as the 43rd Vice President of the United States for two terms from 1981 to 1989 under the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Before winning the White House on January 20, 1989, he had served as the director of the CIA and U.S. ambassador to China and the U.N. in the 70s.

Apart from being an excellent president, he was a great soldier. He was the youngest naval pilot (18) during the second world war. He flew 58 combat missions from the aircraft carrier USS San Jacinto in the Pacific War after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. During one of the missions, his plane was hit by a flak and the engine caught fire. Despite the accident, he completed the mission and jumped from the plane with his parachute. He was later rescued by the submarine USS Finback, on lifeguard duty. Bush was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Air Medals and the Presidential Unit Citation awarded to San Jacinto for his bravery in the war.

Bush got married to Barbara Pierce in 1954 in New York and were together for 73 years until her death on April 17, 2018, at the age of 92. Barbara and George parented six children: George, Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro and Robin (who died of leukemia at 3). Bush suffered from vascular parkinsonism, a form of Parkinson’s disease and he had been using a motorized scooter since 2012.
