John Ashbery started writing poems at a young age of 8. He had quite a troubled childhood as he was haunted by his brother’s early death and conflicted by his attraction towards boys. His loneliness inspired him to indulge in American literature. He will be remembered as the enigmatic genius of modern poetry.
