Peter Nelson is an American master treehouse builder and an author. He is best recognized for his appearance as a host of Animal Planet TV show, Treehouse Masters since 2013.

Pete was born on June 4, 1962, in Ridgewood, NJ. He first got interested in treehouses from the very young age. His father has a lot to do for his inclination towards the treehouse. His father built him an adventurous tree fort behind the garage of their home, when he was just 5 years old.
He was so captivated by the structure that he started having fantasies about the designs of carpentry and treehouses when he reached to his college days.
In 1987, Pete’s dream of a career in treehouse came true when he built his first adult treehouse, in the backyard in Colorado. David Stiles’ book, How To Build Treehouse, Huts and Forts revived Pete’s childhood dream.
Post-graduation, he moved to Washington State to follow a unique career path. As a startup, he started working in the construction of the regular ground house. Following that, he went on to build innovative and inspiring treehouses.

Their kids are also into the family business. Their son, Henry who often travels with the crew on builds is a skilled carpenter. Henry’s brother, Charlie builds boats and guitars and is tending to our Woodinville property as it crystallizes into Treehouse Resort and Spa.
Their daughter, Emily, is at the helm of the treehouse HQ. Additionally, she has also founded an online store, Be in a Tree, where one can purchase their treehouse plans, lifestyle goods, and the same heavy-duty hardware which Pete uses in his builds worldwide. Along with the Nelson family, Emily's husband is also into the business and works as the lead carpenter of the construction team.
