Pete Nelson is an American treehouse builder, author, reality TV personality and self-proclaimed tree whisperer.
He was born on June 4, 1962, in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
He developed an interest in tree houses at an early age of 5 when his father built him a tree fort behind their garage.
He built his first treehouse at the age of 25 in Colorado Springs, where he was studying economics.
After graduation, he moved to Washington in pursuit of a very unusual career, treehouse building.
His published his first book, Treehouses: The Art and Craft of Living Out on a Limb, in 1994.
The success of his first book inspired him to write five more books about perks and adventures of building treehouses.

In 2006, Nelson and his wife, Judy, started an overnight treehouse retreat center, Treehouse Point, with a vision to bring back people close to nature.
In 2011, he started Nelson Treehouse and Supply, a treehouse design, construction and supply business.
His sons, Henry and Charlie, are good carpenters and builders. His daughter, Emily, founded and runs their online store, Be in a Tree.
Even their son-in-law, Patrick, is a good carpenter and a part of their construction team.
In 2013, Animal Planet started a show, Treehouse Masters, which shows Nelson and his team building treehouses all over the United States.
‘Treehouse Masters’ has now completed its ten seasons successfully with an average of 1.3 million viewers per episode.
Currently, Nelson is engaged in his new project, Treehouse Resort and Spa, a new destination of relaxing with nature which is expected to open by 2020.
