It came as a surprise when the stunning Morning Joe host, Mika Brzezinski, released a book about her food obsession. Published in 2013, Obsessed: America's Food Addiction And My Own details Mika's struggle with eating disorders such as bulimia.
Maintaining her 36-25-36 inches measurements wasn't an easy task. Her obsession with food began in high school and continued throughout her college years. After a realization that her weight was affecting her career, Mika approached her friend, Diane Smith, who was also having weight issues, with an idea to pen a book about food obsession.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan in 2013, she said, "Diane and I found a direct link between very skinny women and morbidly obese women: We have the same urges. So we decided to deal with it together by writing about it. We split the book advance and each agreed we'd use the money toward the treatments we needed to get healthy."
Mika revealed that she was surprised by the science of eating disorders, "Something was happening in my brain and in my body. I was sure of it. I wrote it down and then looked at the science. You do a bit of scratching and the science comes pouring out."
Mika also shared that she had three body role models, stand-up comedian and actress Susie Essman, actress Kathleen Turner, and anchor Gayle King.
