During the inaugural ceremony of Donald Trump, Twitter users criticized her for making a racing statement on live TV. She apparently pointed out that a black women was not ex-first lady.

“No, that is not Michelle Obama, just somebody coming out and checking everything is ready I imagine.”

Katherine Kay is married to ex BBC foreign correspondent and currently senior vice-president of Control Risks Group, Tom Carver. With Carver, Kay has four children, Maya, Jude, Poppy and Felix. Kay has had a successful marriage, never been divorced and there has been no rumors on her love life up to date. This hard working woman has proved that one can balance personal and professional life with some patience and support.

Leaving economics changed Katty’s life for good

After graduating from Oxford, Katty worked at the Bank of England. She quickly left the job and started working for a non-government organization.

Shortly after, she pursued the life in journalism joining BBC in 1990 as a correspondent for BBC World Service in Zimbabwe and there has been no looking back for this talented journalist. She worked for various BBC services and in various locations such as Tokyo and Washington DC. She even joined The Times news cast but returned to BBC.

She worked her way up in her career eventually joining Mike Embley in London to co present BBC World News Bulletin in 2004. From 2007, she worked with Matt Frei as a correspondent of BBC World’s Washington based news broadcast.

Kay often makes appearances on Morning Joe, Meet the Press and The Chris Matthews Show on NBC as a guest panelist. She is a board member of IWMF (International Women’s Media Foundation).

Katty Kay has written two books along with Claire Shipman.

The first book Womenomics published on 2009 explores the position of working women in current businesses. Their second book The Confidence Code provides an insight on how women should be confident on work place to better compete in this changing world.

Both of these books are New York Times Bestseller.
