Gregory Ellis Mathis is better known as Judge Mathis of the American arbitration based reality court show of the same name. He was born on 5th of April, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan, United States. He is a retired Michigan 36th District Court, television personality and author. He has been with the winning reality courtroom series Judge Mathis since its premier where he adjudicates real life small claim arguments within a replicated courtroom set. The long running show airs five days a week and his highly viewed in America. He attended Eastern Michigan University graduating with the B. S. in Public Administration from the Ypsilanti campus. He graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in the year 1987. Because of his criminal past, he was denied a license to practice law for several years. Finally, in 1995, he was elected to serve as a district court judge for Michigan's 36th District. In his five years long tenure on the bench, he was rated in the top five of all judges in the 36th District. He started his political career as an unpaid intern and became an assistant to a city council member, Clyde Cleveland. He wrote a novel called Street Judge in September 2008 and a book called Of Being a Judge to Criminals and Such and has also published his memoir, Inner City Miracle.
