Joe Biden is a former US Vice-President and politician. He served 47th Vice President of the US from 2009 till 2017, been elected twice with President Barack Obama. As a democratic candidate, he represented Delaware as a US Senator from 1973 till being elected as Vice President in 2009.

He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988 and 2008. But later President Obama chose him as his running mate. As Vice President, he oversaw the infrastructure spending aimed at counteracting the Great Recession & U.S. policy toward Iraq up until U.S. troops withdrawal in 2011.

President Obama surprisingly awarded him Presidential Medal of Freedom on January 12, 2017.
In 1972, he became the sixth-youngest senator in the US history and became the 4th most senior senator while resigning in 2009 to assume Vice Presidency. He was elected to the senate six times continuously. Biden was a longtime member & former chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.
Also, he served as chairman of Senate Judiciary Committee concentrating on the issues related to drug policy, civil liberties and crime prevention and led the legislative efforts for creation of Violence Against Women Act and Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act.
He was born as Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. to a car salesman Joseph Robinette Biden, Sr. and Catherine Eugenia Biden, on 20th November 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. At age 10, he moved to Delaware. He became an attorney in 1969 and was elected to the New Castle County Council a year later. first sent to the St. Paul’s Elementary School in Scranton, he struggled early years with a stammer. He helped himself by memorizing long passages of poetry and narrating them loud in front of mirror.
Born and raised in a working-class family, he even washed school windows to help his parents afford tuition fees. He completed school from the prestigious Archmere Academy and attended and the University of Delaware majoring in political science and history. It was when he met his first wife Neilia Hunter. Upon graduating from Delaware University, he went to Syracuse University Law School and graduated in 1968.
Joe and Neilia married in 1966. While everything was going great in his life, a devastating tragedy struck him in 1972 when his beloved wife and three children including infant daughter Naomi and two sons Beau and Hunter were involved in a car accident. The death of wife and daughter shattered him a lot, even nearly leading him to suicide. But, somehow he managed to move on his life until meeting his 2nd wife Jill Biden. Joe and Jill tied the knot in 1977 and welcomed a daughter Ashley Biden in 1981. His son Bea Biden died of brain cancer in 2015.
