While Jennifer Connelly was involved in modeling, she had no interest in pursuing a career in acting. However, she changed her mind right after filming her debut film Once Upon a Time in America.

A year after her first movie was released, she appeared in a starring role in two films Phenomena and Seven Minutes in Heaven

Jennifer transitioned from a child actress to adult by portraying the role of Gloria Harper in The Hot Spot. In the film, she played the role of a blackmailed woman for which she received mostly positive reviews from the critics. The film was a box office failure, though.

Until the 2000s, she appeared in various movies which failed to garner her attention from the public but her career took a major turn in 2000 when she made her breakthrough from the film Requiem for a Dream. Her role as Marion Silver in the film was highly praised by the critics and she got nominated for four various awards.

A year later, she appeared in A Beautiful Mind, a hit movie partially based on mathematician John Nash’s biography by Sylvia Nasar. The film was a huge success, both critically and commercially which grossed more than 313 million USD worldwide. On the other hand, Connelly earned a Golden Globe, an Oscar and a BAFTA (all for the best-supporting actress) for the role she portrayed as Alicia Nash, wife of John Nash. She also won seven more awards and six nominations for her performance.

Following the career-igniting performance in A Beautiful Mind, she made notable appearances in movies like Hulk, House of Sand and Fog, Blood Diamond, The Day Earth Stood Still, He’s Just Not That Into You, Noah, etc.

The actress has been scheduled to appear as Amanda Marsh in upcoming movie Granite Mountain. She is also to appear in Alita: Battle Angel but her role in it has not been announced.
