The former host of ESPN’s First Take, Jemele Hill is one of the notable names in the American media industry. She is a sports journalist and a columnist and is currently serving as the co-host of sports discussion programs His & Hers on ESPN. 

Passionate about writing since her early days, Hill was certain to pursue a career in the same field. She launched her career in 1997 as a sports writer for Raleigh News & Observer. During those days, she majorly covered news about basketball and football. 

She was born as Jemele Juanita Hill on 21 December 1975 in Detroit, Michigan, and has endured lots of emotional issues while growing up. It is reported that her parents were drug addicts and that her mother used to clean others’ houses to earn a living for her family. Her father, Jerel Brickerson, has remained clean and sober since past 23 years. Despite the fact, she adhered to her dreams and graduated from Mumford High School.
