Glenn Villeneuve was born on 18 August 1969, in Vermouth, USA. As a child, he grew up there and joined the high school at his early age. After a year, he dropped out without completing his education. Though he didn’t achieve school education, he became self-educated by reading, traveling, and interacting with interesting people.
Since his early age, he was close to nature and spends most of his time enjoying the scenes of forests and mountains. After years of wandering in the wilderness, in 1999, he visited Alaska. He was in love with the nature of Alaskan region, and kept traveling forth and back for a month. Later, he moved there permanently in 2000 to pursue his dream of living close to the wilderness.

The place is 200 miles north of Fairbanks, and 60 miles away from the nearest road. Also, he doesn’t mind being isolated from humans and has even lived without seeing human’s face for as long as four months.

The show depicts Glenn’s unconventional but simple lifestyle. He lives in the extreme cold in a one-room cabin with no running water supply. The only fuel for heating and cooking is the firewood that he acquires his ax and handsaw. Apart from this, he uses electricity only for his satellite phone, camera, and a headlamp.
