American-Canadian filmmaker and writer George Andrew Romero died in his sleep on 16 July at the age of 77. Director of the famous zombie apocalypse movie, Night of the Living Dead, Romero had been battling lung cancer. Romero had his wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero, beside him when he died.
