Transcript

It’s been a year since the singer, George Michael, who sang the legendary song, Last Christmas, left the world.

‘Last Christmas’ is pretty much The Shawshank Redemption of the music industry as it has never reached number one spot.

It was beaten in 1984 by ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ by Band Aid, which also featured Michael’s vocals.

Fans have launched a campaign to make it reach number one spot before Christmas 2017.

The surviving member of Wham!, Andrew Ridgeley has personally endorsed the campaign.

He told, “For me and for countless others, this coming Christmas will be tinged with sadness.”

If the feat is reached, it would be the perfect tribute to Michael who passed away on the Christmas Day, 2016.

Campaigners are asking fans to purchase or stream the song before December 2017.

Interesting to note is that Michael performed the whole song himself, from instruments to vocals.

The ageless song has been a festive anthem and a fan favorite for more than 30 years.

It is currently charting at number three below Ed Sheeran and Eminem.
