Alex Aiono, who is lately recognized as famous Youtuber is known for singing and posting the cover of popular artists’ famous songs. Multi-instrumentalist Aiono plays guitar, drums, piano, bass and ukulele.
Born and raised in the working-class family, he has created his own stage. His love for music and his family supporting his passion can be referred to as the key point for his success within such a young age. Aiono’s first music industry connection was made while performing on the Santa Monica Promenade at the age of 15.
Signed to the Interscope Records, he delivered his first official single Work The Middle. Alex, who already had 4 million YouTube subscribers, a half billion views, 400k+ Twitter followers, and 1.7 million Instagram followers, became even more popular. Ambitious to pursue a music career, he headed to Los Angeles and quickly met with Grammy-winning musician Babyface. Then, he began uploading his records on YouTube, the very first was a cover of Rihanna’s Where Have You Been.
Afterward, he worked on one of his manager’s friends’ self-released EP entitled Young & Foolish. The EP’s tracks were co-written with John Legend, whom he considers as one of his biggest influences. Afterward, he continued teaching himself music promotion and songwriting. In music production, he drew inspiration from the inventive producers like Timbaland and Pharrell Williams.
Premiering the original songs such as Doesn’t Get Better and Alphabet Songs in 2013 that quickly caught the attention of other musicians and he was invited to join US and Canada tour in support of teen pop band called R5. Other popular song covers, Aiono performed are Shawn Mendes’ Stitches and Weekend’s The Hills, both released in 2015.
In 2015, he also made an appearance in web series Guidance. Lately, he had his biggest hit, with the mashup of Nicky Jam’s Hasta el Amanecer and Drake’s One Dance. It’s considered as the biggest web hit yet.
