Transcript

‘Alaskan Bush People’ has been one of the famous reality TV series since it premiered on May 6, 2014.

The show features the Brown family residing in the rural area of Alaska and involving in primitive ways of living like hunting.

However, there have been a lot of criticism and countless accusations from fans about the show being fake.

Here are some behind the scenes facts that many of the viewers may not know about.

Fraud Case

In 2015, Billy and Bam Bam Brown pleaded guilty in a fraud case for lying on their application forms for Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend.

The fund allows people who live in Alaska year-round to be given an annual payout funded by local oil money.

To be eligible for the fund, one can’t spend more than 180 days outside of the state.

The Browns ended up in the court for falsifying the details about their residency in Alaska.

Off-screen Luxury

There are reports that the family lives a much different kind of life off the screen, rather than sticking out in the wild.

Reportedly, the family used to stay at Icy Strait Lodge, in Hoonah, Alaska, between filming rather than at their “Browntown” homestead as depicted in the show.

Social Media

In the show, the family makes it look like they were technologically backward. But they had a website long before the show was filmed.

Several of the children also had social media accounts, where they would often post things which had nothing to do with their Alaskan life.

It has been claimed that some of them are active on social media even today.

Billy’s Book

The show described the Browns as “a recently discovered family” in the early season, but the patriarch, Billy, released a book in 2007.

In the book, he revealed his journey from an orphaned boy surviving in the Alaskan wilderness to becoming a dad and husband.

The family reportedly left Alaska and moved to the lower 48, to get someone to turn Bill’s book, One Wave at a Time, into a film or TV series.

It’s been claimed that the show then ended up being a reenactment of the sentiments in the book.

Family Drama

Noah Brown, the outcast of ‘Alaskan Bush People’ is getting married to his girlfriend, Rhain, in 2018.

The 26-year-old and his girlfriend are organizing a pre-wedding celebration in Idaho, on March 31, but his family isn’t invited.

In his Facebook post about the pre-wedding celebration, one of the fans asked if other Browns are attending the party.

Noah replied to the fan that his family members will not be at the meet and greet.

Noah is currently living in Trinidad, Colorado, while the rest Browns are filming for the season 8 in a $500k lakeside lodge in Omak, Washington.
