Gregory Ellis Mathis is better known as Judge Mathis of the American arbitration based reality court show of the same name. He was born on 5th of April in the year 1960 in Detroit, Michigan, United States. He is a retired Michigan 36th District Court, television personality and author. He has been with the award winning reality courtroom series Judge Mathis since its premiere where he adjudicates real life small claim arguments within a replicated courtroom set. The long running show airs five days a week and his highly viewed in America. He went to Eastern Michigan University graduating with the B. S. in Public Administration from the Ypsilanti campus. He graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in the year 1987. Because of his criminal past, he was denied a license to practice law for several years. Finally, in 1995, he was elected to serve as a district court judge for Michigan's 36th District. He has a unique style of judgment, making wisecracks and jokes and takes on a comedic and teasing approach. His verdict is barely questioned as he provides a good explanation before his verdict. In addition to his works as a judge, Mathis wrote a novel Street Judge in September 2008 a book Of Being a Judge to Criminals and Such and his memoir Inner City Miracle.
Mathis is married to Linda Reese since 1985. He met his future wife, after his mother’s death, who was a fellow student at EMU. The couple got married without much delay and welcomed their first child, a daughter, Jade on May 1985. They have three more children, daughter Camara, born in October 1987, son Greg Jr. born in January 1989 and a second son Amir, born in July 1990. From the looks of it, he is very unlikely to get a divorce anytime in the future. The marriage has lasted for almost three decades and is bound to last even longer.
